Semiya Payasam is a tasteful recipe which is commonly prepared during Onam season. During Onam season we can see Semiya Payasam in every homes. Semiya Payasam is also an essential recipe in Hindu wedding function.

Ingredients of Semiya Payasam


1. Vermicelli/Semiya- 200 Grams.
2. Milk- 1 liter.
3. Cashew nuts- 50 Grams.
4. Sugar- 500 Grams.
5. Cardamon- 5 Grams.
6. Ghee- 150 Grams.

Method to prepare Semiya Payasam


First split vermicelli into small pieces. Then boil a pan by pouring some ghee in it and put the prepared small pieces of Vermicelli in this pan. Then roast vermicelli for 20 minutes until it becomes light brown shade. Also Roast cashew nuts and raisin in another pan and keep it in a separate bowl. Now boil milk in a bowl. When milk becomes hot put roasted vermicelli and sugar in milk. Boil until vermicelli becomes soft. After this pour melted ghee and roasted cashew nuts and raisin into this mixture. Seperate the Semiya Payasam in a separate bowl and serve after 10 minutes.
