The protest rally conducted by the LDF against the petrol hike turned to be violent in the state capital, Thiruvanathapuram on 16th September 2011. The march was conducted by the DYFI and SFI supporters protesting against the recent hike in the petrol price. Three state government vehicles were burned to fire. The police used grenade to remove the mob which were protesting at the capital.

The march by DYFI too turned violent as the supporters tried to enter the GP office. The supporters had broken the windows of the office. Later the protesters moved to the University College. The police used grenade to remove the protesting SFI supporters.

The mob turned to be violent and burned the vehicles of PSC and the State Health Department. Protesters marched towards the general post office and the secretariat too. A large unit of the police is now camping in the respected areas where the mob turned violent.

There had been state wide protest by different political parties and trade unions in different centres in all districts on kerala yesterday.

Today the LDF had called on a hartal in protest against this incident.

As the hartal started in the state capital thiruvanathapuram, organised by the LDF on 17th September 2011 turned to be violent as the supporters of the hartal had thrown stones on KSRTC bus at Venjarummodu. The bus driver who got injured was rushed to the hospital.
