Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Supports Kochi Tuskers Kerala
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has come in support of the Indian Premier League team Kochi Tuskers Kerala, saying that he will do his best to protect the Kochi team. His words came amidst the Diamond jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Cricket Association.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on friday said that he would try his best to protect the Kochi Tuskers Kerala team of the Indian Premier Legaue. He said the people that he would talk to Rajiv Shukla, the IPL Chairman, on the subject and ask the ways to revive the Kochi team. His words spread happiness among the cricket lovers across the state.
The Chief Minister also assured to make the right moves to make the proposed Idakkochi stadium possible, that was denied the permission on the grounds of environmental issues. He was speaking in the valedictory function of the Diamond jubilee celebrations of Kerala Cricket Association.
The last month the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) had terminated the Kochi team for violating the agreements. The main reason was that the consortium owning Kochi team failed to make the annual payment of Rs. 155 crore as a bank guarantee.
The Kochi franchise has been dealing with troubles from its inception and the termination was the last straw of it. Yet Chandy's words have brought some hopes to the cricket fans.
