Now there is latest news regarding actor Mohanlal & his Lieutenant Colonel title. Based on a complaint that the actor had misused his uniform in an advertisement owned by the Kerala government, for promoting tourism, there is a chance that actor Mohanlal may lose his Lieutenant Colonel title.
As per the army rules, the uniform must be worn only on official functions & ceremonial occasions. In the previous years, this honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel was given to the leading sportspersons of India including Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Abhinav Bindra & Kapil Dev. Most of us are familiar with the fact that Abhinav Bindra is the 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalist shooter; Kapil Dev is the captain of the Indian cricket team who had won the 1983 World Cup & Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the 2011 world cup winning Indian cricket captain. Those who have received this honorary rank should appear as role models to inspire the young generation of our country so that they can join the armed forces. In the advertisement, Mohanlal who appeared in army uniform, claimed himself to be a war hero. But the actor said that in the advertisement he had used the costume that was already worn in Kandahar, a Malayalam film. Now his Lieutenant Colonel title is in a doubt.
