Prof. M K Sanu wins Padmaprabha Award


Famous writer and literary critic Prof. M K Sanu has been chosen for the Padmaprabha literary award of this year. The award is instituted by Padmaprabha Memorial Trust, based on Kalpetta. It carries the prize money of Rs. 55,000, a plaque and a citation.

Renowned Malayalam writer and literary critic Prof.M K Sanu has been selected for the Padmaprabha Literary Award of this year. The award, instituted by Padmaprabha Memorial Trust based on Kalpetta, consists of a prize money of Rs 55,000, a plaque with a sapphire stone and a citation, trust chairman M P Veerendrakumar said in a press release.

The award jury was headed by Dr Punathil Kunhabdulla. It also included Dr S Saradakutty and Rafeeq Ahamed. The jury opined that prof. M K Sanu brought simplicity, humanism and progressive thoughts into the Malayalam criticism. They also said that the contributions made by Sanu to the Malayalam literary, oratory and teaching field are valuble investments for the cultural growth of Kerala.
Sanu's writings were inspired from most of the progressive movements like nationalist movement, communism and liberalism with others. His writings had the influence of the philosophies of Sree Narayana Guru, Dr. Palpu and Sahodaran Ayyappan.

Sanu has written a number of books including the biographies of Sree Narayana Guru, P K Balakrishnan and Sahodaran Ayyappan. His most noted book is 'Changampuzha Krishnapilla: Nakshatrangalude Snehabhajanam', a tribute to the most adored romantic poet of Malayalam.

Sanu earned master degree in Malayalam from Trivandrum University College with first rank. He has worked at Sree Narayana College, Kollam and Maharaja's College, Ernakulam as a lecturer. Sanu is also a permanent member of International body for Human rights and the founding member of 'Mithram', a school for Mentally challenged, in Ernakulam District. His autobiography 'Karmagathi' was published last year.
