Swaralaya Devarajan Master Award is instituted mainly for the memory of Devarajan Master. K.J Yesudas already celebrated his golden jubilee as a singer on November 14.
The famous Malayalam poet O.N.V Kurup is chaired by award jury. carnatic musician Omanakutty, Music critic Ravi menon and Legend music director M Jayachandran are the other Juri Members. Kattassery Joseph Yesudas was born on January 10, 1940 at Kochi. Augustine Joseph and Elizabeth Joseph are the parents of him. Yesudas got training of Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar(well known person in classical music) in childhood. Prabha is the wife of him and has three sons named Vinod, Vijay, and Vishal. The legend singer makes his debut through composition of M.B Srivivasn in Kalpaadukal on 1961. 'Ganagandharvan' nickname of Yesudas given by Mahakavi G Sankara Kurup. He started his music life on 21th age now he sang 50000 songs in different languages like Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, English and Arabic. The ever green singer has got number of achievements and awards . National award and state award Came to him seven and twenty four times respectively. More over he honored by Tamilnadu, West bengal, Andhra pradesh and Karnataka state awards.
