Jayaram to inaugurate Thrissur International Film Festival 2011 on 18th November


Actor Jayaram will inaugurate the 6th edition of Thrissur International Film Festival 2011 on 18th November, friday. The film festival will last till 24th. TiffFamous actor Jayaram will inaugurate the 6th Thrissur International Film Festival on 18th November, friday. Thrissur Mayor I P Paul will preside over the function that starts at 6 pm. P C Chacko MP, Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA, K V Abdul Khader MLA, Babu M Palissery MLA, M P Vincent MLA, V S Sunil Kumar MLA, District Panchayath President K V Dasan and Manappuram Group chairman V P Nandakumar will deliver speech. From the cinema field, many personalities including Samvrutha Sunil, Innocent, Sathyan Anthikkadu, Priyanandanan, Kamal and KSFDC Chairman Sabu Cherian will attend the function. The inaugural ceremony will be on Kairali theatre. After the inauguration, the internationally acclaimed film 'A Prophet' directed by Jean Odiye will be screened as the opening film.

The film festival is from 18th to 24th November at Kairali and Shree theatres of Thrissur. The screening will start at 9 in the morning at both theatres. There will be a music concert dedicated to the recently died poet and lyricist Mullanezhi and music director Johnson. Prominent singers will take part in the event.

The Thrissur International Film Festival is the second largest film festival in Kerala after IFFK. Many noted films will be exhibited this year. Award winning films 'Social Network' by David Fincher, 'The Equation of Love and Death' by Kwao Biyoping, 'I am not There' by Todd Heynes and 'Female Agents' by Jean Salomi will be screened in World Cinema section.

'The Milk of Sorrow', a combine production of Peru and Spain, is the middle film. The other noted films include 'Divine Intervention' by Elie Sulaiman, German film 'The Counterfieters', Jean Zin's 'Dongji Rescue', 'The Banishment' by Andre Suyaginev and 'Barlescue' by Steve Ant.

The films from France are included in the Country Focus section. More than Seventy films from 18 nations will be screened in the sections Contemporary Indian Cinema, Retrospective, Nostalgia, Documentaries and so on. Bhupan Hazarika will be remembred with 'Rudali' of which the music was done by him. There will be Open Forum, Interview with directors and Seminars as part of the festival.
