H. G Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan Passes Away
His Grace Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan passed away on 16th February 2012 at St. Gregorios Hospital, Paruamala. The death news of Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios has entirely shocked those who loved him. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios was the senior Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Sabharathnam Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan was well known among people in India and abroad.
His Grace Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan(94) passed away on 16th February 2012 at St. Gregorios Hospital, Paruamala. The death of Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan happened at 7.30 PM. He was under treatment for few weeks. Sabharathnam Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan, the senior most Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was a gracious person who has made a space in the hearts of millions of people in India and abroad with his speech, writings and social activities. Being a renowned theologian, orator and writer Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan had been a part of various activities which gave a second life to millions of people. Stood on his foot for social justice, equality, sharing and love the Metropolitan was the master (teacher) for thousands of theology students for about 50 years. His theory of 'Atraita' was a new approach to the Christian Theology which taught universal religion of love.
As a writer Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan had written about 56 books. More than that the Metropolitan had found himself dedicated in providing service to the society by starting more than 40 institutions, movements and projects all over India.
